I started my summer with a camping trip to Bear Lake. My kids and I spent a few nights at a campsite right next to the lake. We spent a day splashing and swimming and building sand structures and reading. On the way back home, we stopped in Logan at Utah State to eat some Aggie Ice Cream.
The day after our camping trip, we flew up to Alaska for a two week vacation. My parents currently spend their summers there and it was fun to join my sister and one of her children up there. We hiked and biked, roasted marshmallows, watched movies, rode the 4-wheeler, and explored. We also visited the high school my sister and I attended. My most exciting Alaskan adventure was competing in my first ever triathlon! (Bonus jelly beans if you can be the first to comment which three sports are in a typical triathlon)
After Alaska, we headed to San Francisco. It was my first time visiting that area. I toured the Jelly Belly factory and brought back treats for YOU! I took my kids to Fisherman's Wharf. We ate delicious lobster bisque and clam chowder in bread bowls. We toured a submarine and a war ship. We walked around Chinatown. We biked across the Golden Gate Bridge. We also went to the beach, explored some tide pools, and watched the seals.
I spent most of July back at home. My best friend and her kids came for a visit. We went to Lagoon and I rode Cannibal, we visited Temple Square, and 7 Peaks. I went to Cub Scout camp in Millcreek Canyon with my son. I took my kids, their friends, and their cousins to 7 Peaks. I hiked to Dog Lake with Mrs. Laramie and Mr. Kasteler and our dogs Molly (mine) & Annie (Mr. K's).
My summer vacation officially ended on July 31 when I came back to school to prepare to meet you!!
What did YOU do during your time away from school??? Leave a comment and let me know!
